September is Emergency Preparedness Month! We have a kit for Evacuation (3) days worth, and a huge supply of foods to shelter in place or take with us if necessary.

Not just food ready, we have many of the recommended items packed up in one place near an exit. Flashlights, batteries, medications, clothes and shoes, water bottles are just some of the basics.

Taking your elder along will cost you more time.....pre-pack!

Do you have Depends and Ensure in your emergency kit?
What else?

Because of the fires, it was strongly recommended to be able to leave in 5 minutes, so I am putting some things in the car.
We have never left in 5 minutes, ever!

Thanking (U.S.) to (Canada) for their arrival of Super Scoopers yesterday in Southern California!

Thank you Tothill and CWillie for your contributions!

I am going to let this thread go from too little interest.

For years we had an RV and I kept it stocked year round. I live in a climate where it did not need to be winterized, so I kept the water, fuel and propane tanks full, kept non perishable food and clothes for everyone one in it.

Now that it is gone, I have slacked off.

I don't have any people living with me, but do have pets.

A tip for water and Ice. Keep your bottled water in the freezer. And or thoroughly wash out milk jugs and freeze water in them. You can also freeze juice boxes. It is a great way to keep things cold without having to deal with pooling water.
