What happens when a parents money runs out and they can no longer pay for their care. Currently they are in assisted living.

My dad is in assisted living and is concerned that his money will run out in 5 years. What will happen next. Will he have to move out of the current assisted living place to a less expensive place the state will pay for.

How old is your dad? What are his impairments? Do you live in a state where AL is covered by Medicaid?

94 years old, They assisted with med ordering and administering, he lives in California I live in Utah. Sorry what is AL?

AL is shorthand for Assisted Living.
