POA terminates when the person does. In other words, no, you have no rights or responsibilities based on that POA.

Adding to VegasLady's response, on death the responsibilities of management fall to the Personal Representative (formerly known as Executrix or Executor) identified in the Will, or to a Trustee if the individual had a Trust.

If neither exist, the person died intestate and state laws govern how distributions are made and to whom. I don't know though how management of any estate would be handled, i.e., who would be appointed.

Curious why the POA wouldn't want the family to come to the funeral? Was there serious conflict in the family? Was it between the relatives? Was the person who passed or will pass part of the conflict?

If the person who passed or will pass wasn't part of any conflict, I feel any friend and relatives should be able to pay their respects to that person. No one should deny that right.

My POA allowed me to plan and pay for the funeral from estate funds. Check your paperwork.
