Is this a hospital or a LTC facility? Are they having Rehab or is this a permanent placement.?

Does someone have POA. To take them out, you may need to prove that you are transferring them or that your home or their home is equipped to care for them. If they need 24/7 care, that it will be provided.

It will not be easy to find in home care if the person has no money. Medicaid does have an in home program but the person has to fit the income requirement. Medicare does not pay for longterm care with aides.

Get them out! Now! This happened to a friend of mine and she died because of poor care...if possible go to an adult foster care home near you

I’ve heard from families in similar situations, and it’s incredibly frustrating. A couple of things they’ve done that seemed to help: document everything (names, times, what was said/done), request a meeting with the charge nurse or patient advocate, and put requests in writing so there’s a paper trail. If you’re not getting anywhere, escalate to the hospital ombudsman or administrator. For discharge, some have pushed by getting the doctor on record for medical stability — once that’s clear, you can often insist on a transfer or discharge against medical advice if absolutely necessary. It’s exhausting, but persistence and documentation make a huge difference

I’m so SORRY!
This is so Pathetic & SAD!
You personally would need to take care of your Family Member at Home for FREE, if the individual is on Medicare.
Even if you paid someone for help through ab Agency, the care is so minimal.
suggest hiding some camera’s in multiple spots your family members room.
FYI- Take Pictures & Always take notes.
Receipts = PROOF!
🇺🇸USA- Wealthiest Countries in the World, & this is how we Treat the Elderly?
It should be Illegal.
The Nursing Home Industry is a Dirty Business & Isn’t monitored enough for way too long.
It’s such a lucrative Business for Government Agencies & Independent Individuals.
If this industry was actually regulated, then these individuals would be in Prison Life.
The Families should also get paid for Restitution!
How does an individual pay $4200 per/mo. in addition to their Medicare Insurance?
Another individual at same facility/care pays ONLY $400-$600 & all thru Medicaid?
The care is exactly the same.
They both SUCK!
Just because an individual’s is on Medicare Vs. Medicaid, doesn’t mean you’re Rich or well off, ESPECIALLY in Michigan 2025!

Contact an Ombudsman of the county or where the facility is located if you are in the United States. Also, contact Department of Aging to see what your options are. Can your loved one walk or has mobility? If so, you can apply for Medicaid and get an aide for them. Sometimes family will pay for a sitter or a Certified Nursing Assistant as additional backup in a facility setting until you can make further arrangements that will benefit your loved one.

Sure- BUT……
Easier said, than done though.
Only if, you personally are physically, mentally, & financially capable to care of an Elderly individual in your home.
