We tried taking her and she FREAKED out to the point that the facility called us to pick her up. Her doctor wasn't much help to me when I asked what we could give her, he had no advise. The only drugs she is on are namenda and aricept.

Have you discussed anti-anxiety medications with him?

Have you had a talk with the director or head social worker at the center? Often they are experienced with this kind of behavior and can make suggestions.

Could you try this in small steps? Only an hour the first day she goes back, gradually increasing?

Good luck to you!

Who is advising you/prescribing for mom? Has she been seen by a geriatric psychiatrist? With my mom we found that over the course of 5 years or so, it has been psychiatrists who have given the best advice on placements and meds.

A neurologist is the doc who did not have any suggestions. I'll have to look into geriatric psychiatrists. It's a good idea also to try the small steps, I just need to get started - this entire process has been frightening.
