That happens in the later stages. My mother was very much aware of her diagnosis for years. She also lived independently for seven years after her diagnosis (with some oversight). It’s now been 11 years. At this point, she is blissfully unaware of her condition.

Definitely and absolutely have a written plan for end of life, your wishes for medical interventions or not, who will handle for finances, medical decisions, etc. Plan ahead while you still have your faculty.

I am so sorry you were diagnosed with this terrible disease.

What you will need to realize is that you need help now while you seem to have cognitive abilities. I would first get someone to be ur POA for both financial and medical. I would make both immediate so no need for a doctor's diagnosis to make it effective. Get your Will in order. Get your personal paperwork in order. If you have home, start cleaning it out. Maybe sell for your care in an Assisted Living. Maybe there is a progressive community where u go from Independent living to AL and finally skilled nursing.

Find what resources are available to you by calling your Office of aging.

Are you serious? Someone with Alzheimer's dementia might not be mentally able to use this forum.
