CherylA, did the memory care facility tell you directly that they want your Mom to leave? Or was it Mom saying that the facility wants her to leave?

If it was Mom saying that, she is just trying to leave the place and wants to go home. Now, with memory lost, "home" usually means the person's child hood home, back when life was fun as a child.

Normally a good memory care facility has been of hundreds of rodeos to know what to do with a resident who is not adjusting to her environment. They wouldn't make a blanket statement that they want Mom, a paying resident, to leave. If that is the case, time to look for another memory care facility.

Talk with the management at the facility she is in. She cannot be the first difficult patient they have ever had. What can they do help mitigate the situation, how can you help with that effort.

failing a solution that works for them, they cannot just put her on the street...what is the next step up in care. I guess, eventually that step up would be necessary.... what would that be? Does she qualify for that move now? Is it really necessary now?

Welcome, Cheryl. I'm so sorry you're going through this, and even sorrier to see from your profile that your husband is on the same path.

Is your mother in a memory care unit specifically? - your profile says she's in an Assisted Living Facility (ALF).

How long has she been where she is now?
