Joann......no they can’tall be tested. There is specific criteria that must be met in order to be tested. No where in this country can anyone ask for a test and be given one on the spot. We don’t have enough tests and even if we did, they could be negative when the test was taken and positive by the time the results are in.

Just looking at the geography, of which I confess I was entirely ignorant.

Having got over the utter confusion (for an ex-Londoner) caused by seeing Hyde Park, Kensington and Kew Gardens suddenly relocated to Long Island - !?!?!?!?!?! - what I was actually looking for was some idea of local infrastructure.

What sort of home does your mother live in? If it makes it very hard for her to distance herself effectively from other people, I'll eat my words and think again.

No. She should sit tight, inside her home, and avoid allowing anyone to come in. Is she asking to join you?

You are asking a question that has no really “right” answers.

Are you able to contact a doctor who is familiar with her physical needs and emotional and cognitive profile?

Does she have help where she lives? Anyone who watches out for her? Anyone who could arrange to be available if there is a problem while things are so uncertain?

Does SHE have concerns about being in her present situation, or has she asked you to come for her? Has she been managing on her own before the pandemic?

Do you have enough room for her to stay with you for a potentially extended period of time?

Can you foresee specific advantages to her being with you as opposed to remaining in her own home?
