He cannot put any weight on the foot for two months. How many days would they keep him in rehab? We live in Leisure world in Silver Spring Maryland. Please answer me. I am going through a major depression because of the foot surgery and him being in rehab. The rehab is on lockdown because they found Covid in the rehab.

As Glad said. The first 20 days is fully covered by Medicare. 80 to 100 only 50%. If you have a good secondary insurance, then the 50% Medicare does not cover maybe covered fully or partially by BC. If they don't cover the 50% then the patient covers the cost.

Have you signed admitting papers yet? Those papers have the info on what will be covered by Medicare and BC and what you will owe daily. If you have not been given this information, then call the Rehab's finance office and ask for it.

He could be released at any time. It may just be he needs therapy to get his strength back after a Hospital stay. Teaching him what he can and can't do. He may only be there the initial 20days if that. I would be surprised if he goes passed the initial 20 days. He can keep weight off that foot at home. Tell him he needs to do what is asked of him. The sooner he gets his strength back and follows Drs orders, the sooner he will be out.

Medicare Part A pays 100% of rehab for 20 days, then partial for up to a total of 100 days, I think. Ask the facility. Do not rush him being discharged. They will do that when he is no longer getting benefit from the therapies. You want him to do as well as he was before the surgery, I am sure. You need to be patient and let him heal.

So you are at home? He is in rehab following surgery? Is Leisure World a senior living community? They must have some activities that you could participate in. Even sitting with someone else for a meal. It is important for you to challenge your comfort zone in order to feel better. Are you getting out for a walk each day, at least?
