She can be very negative and depressed, and some of that is justified in that she doesn't feel well, and many people have abandoned her. However, being around it and trying to be supportive is getting to me, especially since my own support system is pretty limited at this point in time. She's not willing to get any help for herself, she's very stubborn that way. She's not well enough for me to get her out and doing anything. She does not enjoy anything really, except TV. Other suggestions are met with "no." So it comes down to what I can do on my end to stay positive. Thanks

Hi Twilightzone
What are your ages? Perhaps you can meet mom where she is? On the sofa with TV. Maybe you can pick a night that she watches something you enjoy, add some popcorn, a glass of sparkling water with a slice of lime and really get into it.
If you are together during the day and she watches a soap, get into that with her. Talk about the characters. Maybe she'll watch a funny movie with you?Or an old romance.
Make dinner one night and make it a special occasion. Even if it is on TV trays.
Meditation is always good to lift the spirits even if it is for one minute. A massage of her hands and arms or legs and feet is relaxing. Just pick one thing and take your time.
Get out and take a walk for yourself. Do deep breathing. You will feel better soon and that will affect your moms mood as well.
