If anyone wants to leave a facility to go and fill for a petition against a family member but the facility won't let them go, what should they do next?

When you say "we are on the run" do you mean that you left the facility against medical advice"? That is not going to sit well with the judge, my friend.

Guardianship is a step by step process. During the hearing a court officer will be the temporary Guardian Ad Litem. At this point, do everything you can to make the Judge happy. Nobody can move her right now. Be patient.

It went OK the son is no longer the Guardian and we will be going to the court house tomorrow but we are on the run till then we left the facility

Is she still in the brain injury facility in Georgia? How did the hearing go? I seem to recall that it was supposed to be last week sometime?

What kind of facility? Why won't they let this person go?

Not enough information. The facility could be committing unlawful restraint or could be doing exactly the right thing.
