My husband had alzheimers in the later stages. He claims he cannot use the toilet because it is not big enough. He pees all over the place: at the gym (we were kicked out), on our floors, especially by his side of the bed (it smells!), outside in the yard, in the park, in the front yard, and in the garage. I'm at my wits' end. I use pads and have tried the "urinator" (they go into an attached cup), and I got him Depends, etc. Do you have suggestions?
And keep a Depends type adult diaper on him at all times in case he has an accident in between his trips to the bathroom.
You can also talk to his urologist about using some kind of catheter on him, which can be helpful as well.
Incontinence is often the straw that will break the camels back, and perhaps it may be time to look into getting your husband placed in a memory care facility where he will be looked after 24/7 and be safe, and you can get back to just being his loving wife and not his burned out and overwhelmed caregiver.
I wish you well as you travel this very difficult road with your husband.
If that doesn't work, then you many need to move him to memory care. He is risking getting arrested going outside in public places, or even in your yard if it's in public view, for indecent exposure.
Another option would be the non-strip clothing at Silverts or Amazon. They're jumpsuits that look like a shirt and pants, but they fasten in the back so he would not be able to take it off himself.
My suggestion is that you tell him that if he cannot control his urges, he will need to go into a formal care place that will deal with all his bodily functions. Set some rules for him to follow, and see what the results are. It’s a hope that it will improve! People with AZ can often still work out what is in their genuine best interests.
