Can 2 people be listed on a durable healthcare POA for someone?

The durable power of attorney is separate from the medical directive. Usually the first person listed on medical directive(living will) is the one medical facilities contact first. If that person is not available, the second person is contacted. Ii think this is what you mean. But yes 2 people can be listed.

Actually two or more people can be listed on these papers. Not recommended but yes two people can be listed. Most people have a POA and an alternate to take over in case the POA can not fulfilled their duties. Also POA are different from state to state. In my mother's state she has a living will and medical directive but refused put any one on the medical directive. However her durable power of attorney for finances gives my brother the power to handle her healthcare needs. A little confusing but it is what it is.

The bank told ME that only one can be POA at a time. Two are listed but they said the second person can't do anything unless they provide my death certificate first...then they take over. I wonder why it's so hard to find laws and understand them! Seems you need an atty for about every step you take anymore!
