From your profile, it sounds like your husband is part of the VA system. They used to be excellent about providing equipment so I would start with them if you haven’t already. An alternating pressure mattress is most commonly used for the prevention and treatment of pressure sores.

Just noticed this is an old post so hopefully an answer has been found.

Did you find what you are looking for? We got my mom a mattress from a company https://WoundCareMattress.com It filled with air and had round cells under the air mattress. We put it right on a standard hospital bed.

the company I am referring to only sell several models. The one I got was called the Elite Low Air Loss and Alternating Pressure. Go to the wound care mattress site. I think it will be much more effective and comfortable. Can’t underestimate the value of a good night sleep. It was nice to see my mom comfortable is what I am trying to express. And when she slept I slept. So get a good mattress

Is your husband going on Hospice care? If so, they will provide a hospital bed and you can ask about an air mattress.

I hope you have a woundcare nurse coming in to dress these sores. If not, as your PCP for an 'in home" order for woundcare.
