I'm planning on moving my mom from a memory care unit 1 1/2 hours away to one that is only 10 minutes away so I can visit more often and she can be more a part of her family's life. I know that it will be distressing to be in a new environment. Any tips on how to make the transition a smoother one? Also, i'm moving her from memory care/skilled nursing to memory care/assisted living because she doesn't need skilled nursing care. But i realize the staffing ratios will be different- anything i should keep an eye on? Thanks.

I'm bumping this up.
This sounds like a positive move for both of you, I hope there aren't too many bumps in the road. One suggestion I would make is to try to set her room up as much as possible like she has it at her current residence, if possible arrange for it to be completed when she arrives. I've read of some who didn't even notice the difference, wouldn't that be nice LOL!
