My mother has dementia and my sister and I have a written care agreement from our lawyer. Is there an amount that is accepted if there is a lookback period for medicaid if she would need to go into a nursing home?
Medicaid will respect a written caregiver agreement that specifies what is to be paid. They also expect to see payroll records that prove the wages were properly reported. Wages should be at the local prevailing rate; your attorney should have kept you in that range. Other arrangements like rent/utilities/groceries should be fairly split.
