The assisted living facility in which my mother and aunt reside has extremely limited visiting times. How is your family handling it?

Is this really 5 visits per day, spread between 96 AL residents? It does seem extremely limited, unless you are in a hot spot. Is there an outdoor area where socially distanced visits could take place, and will the weather permit it? Perhaps ask other AL facilities for comparisons, and ask why yours is so different.

This must be one of the hardest effects of the pandemic. It has to be extremely frustrating and absolutely heartbreaking to have to cope with not being able to spend time with loved ones in a care facility.

Covid 19 data/case numbers are fluid and now on the rise in many states. USA Counties use #cases per 100000 people as guidelines for opening schools and hospital/LTC visitation. We are testing more thus more cases are being reported.

Its very difficult for Public Health officials to predict new cases. Unfortunately being able to visit our loved ones in LTC is directly effected as management is probably taking the safe route and limiting outside visitors as well as monitoring local infection rates.

It’s so hard but the virus is so unpredictable. Other countries are going back into lockdown. I wish I could give you more comfort but I don’t see things changing too soon.

Can mom Face Time with you? I would focus on what you can do to work around these restrictions because it’s not likely to change soon. It’s proven that being elderly makes one more susceptible to Covid 19 infection which for them can be deadly. I know it’s hard but try to keep a positive outlook in at least they are doing the best they can to keep your mother safe from a C19 infection. You can only do the best you can.

I'm sorry you are dealing with this, I've often felt grateful that my mother passed away before covid. There have been lots of posts about visitor restrictions, in some places families still aren't being allowed access at all. Is it possible to face time with your mother?
