If you are able you can try a distracting activity for your LO, like a favorite game of cards, helping to prep dinner, funny animal videos from YouTube, sorting + folding towels, anything you think would work. You may have to try more than 1 thing. I wish you success in finding something that helps.

Melatonin seems to help my FIL get to sleep

Also, his doc taking him off Gabapentin may have helped as well, they put him on it years ago for “restless legs” but he has not had any issues with that after taking him off.

It really depends on how bad it is. Some people its mild others anxiety gets bad. Sometimes that's the first sign you see that your LO even has a Dementia.
