Isthisreallyreal,

Years ago when we did the Grand Canyon vacation, we did a side trip to Flagstaff, Jerome, cool little town. We also spent time in Sedona. Oh my gosh, loved it. Sedona was really nice.

Isthisreallyreal,

You only live once! May as well enjoy it!

My husband flew also but I never knew him then.

One of the cutest Andy Griffith shows I saw was where Aunt Bee learned to fly! It was adorable. I think everyone should have an Aunt Bee.

Are you looking in Prescott only or have you checked Cottonwood, Clarkdale, Camp Verde? I can't imagine that Prescott has reasonable anything. So I would check the surrounding areas.

If you like fishing you are pretty limited where you can live in AZ and have access. I bet Yuma or imperial Valley have reasonable housing options, but it depends what services you are looking for.

Need help....

many people out on the desert drive a van. High top and conversion. I’ve met people living and traveling in SUVs and cars.

my own little motor home is only 20 feet long....I can go anywhere a van can.....and many places a van cannot because of high clearance.

Wow! That’s nice! My oldest daughter would love that. She’s too sick to travel often. Chron’s and diabetes.

I think some people enjoy traveling a lot like you. My husband has to travel with work and that is business so it isn’t the same as traveling on our own.

Favorite spots that you have been?
Could you travel in a boat? My neighbors have a yacht stored at the marina and they love to take off for several months sailing. They love it. Which one do you think requires more preparation and maintenance, boat or RV?

I definitely think a boat is very expensive to maintain. Some people even end up selling their boats because they are so expensive to keep. I say, just charter a boat if you want to do a boat trip.

Go and check out the idea of living and traveling in an RV. Especially in the west...there is vast acreage owned by the federal government...BLM, where you can camp for free up to 2 weeks. You can spend the whole winter seeing all the incredible places from so. cal to Texas.

check out cheaprvliving.com.

if you stay for a month or more at an RV park..you can get decent deals. ($200 and less).

see the country, live independent, and cheap!

this was my dream for years....after my parents passed, I made it my reality. Living this life since June 2017

Good for you, Katie! I must have been a gypsy in a past life. I could have done that as well. Got tied down with mom for a bazillion years. Killed my traveling.

Oh my gosh, I could never drive an RV though. I just downsized and bought a smaller car. I love it! Can find a parking spot easily and there is no need for me to have a large vehicle.

I don’t live in AZ but at one time I researched assisted living facilities in my area. Just do a google search.

Make appointments to tour them. Some have independent living apartments. Depending on the facility they will most likely have a restaurant, housekeeping, hair salon, nurse on staff, exercise classes, crafts, bingo, chapel, church service, libraries, shuttle bus to and from doctors, etc.

If funds are limited there may be low income independent living apartments for seniors. Not as fancy but all the basics. Shuttle bus to and from doctors or grocery store.

Clergy visits and services. Bingo or other activities.
