My parents have lived in their home for 50+ years and intended to spend their entire life there. It is clear that they would be better off living in a facility with peers, activities, no stairs and especially the stress-free living of being maintenance free. Without insisting, how can I help them see that an independent living facility would be wonderful for them?

benjusal,

Welcome to the world of caregiving. Many caregivers like you have difficulties talking their parents into moving to a senior living facility. Some parents don't want to leave their home and some have visions from the '70s of what nursing homes used to be like. Hopefully our site will provide great insight for you in this upcoming process. I have included 2 articles that might help you now. Best of luck!
