Mom will soon be back in her home with a live-in aide. Family will not always be present so I would like to "look in" on her from my location using my cell phone to check that all is well.
The problem here would be the aide. What are her legal rights when it comes to a camera. I would check that out before going thru the expense of a camera.
I've got a friend whose daughter suspected Dad was not taking care of himself. Within a couple weeks of videos and conversations it was crystal clear he could not stay alone. They got him into a nursing home within the month. AS a self-pay, a room was available real fast. That family has resources to take action so did not have to wait for Medicaid or other services. If he runs out of money, his house will be sold to finance his continued care. The family does not want to acknowledge, that should he live long enough, he could still run out of money to pay. He's younger than a lot of other residents/patients and may be there a long time.
Consider too - if a camera reveals your mom will not or can not handle some basic living needs while alone in the house, there is a potential report filed with protective agencies. Just be able to take action ASAP, depending upon what you discover if you use the cameras.

Even though Dad could afford the camera setup, they followed the path of least resistance and told Dad it does not cost him.
