While seeing the agent at the Alzheimer's association he advised I go home and report the lady next door. She has been exploiting my mother's lack of memory and stealing from her. Oh what a mess.

Oh yes I have had many conversations with this lady. Everyday since I've been back to town and found out all this is going on there has been one drama after another involving the neighbor. It is so bad that she got evicted.

My grandmother who passed away in 1976 was abused in ther NH. People were stealing clothes from her right and left until my cousin decided to write her last name on the outside of the clothing in big bold permanent ink. Front and Back. Who cares? She kept her clothes after that :) It worked, nobody wanted that last name.

I have several eyewitnesses! This lady had stolen my mother's money and all kinds of things out of her apartment and she also had electricity in my mother's name. She had access to her apartment and bank accounts. She exploits her lack of memory by telling my mom that she borrowed money so my mom just gives her whatever she asks for. I could go on and on but the AA agent told me that I had to start a paper trail because this lady has gotten away with it before and will again. Things are so bad around here that the lady got evicted but I still can't keep mother from going over there. Last night they were walking the streets at 10pm going to the store. I refuse to take the lady anywhere because she is suing my mom for a car accident (that is totally bogus). All my mother can see is that she needs help. My mom has lost the ability to reason so she can't understand what the lady is doing to her. People like this lady should go to jail!

I agree with Vegaslady's posting above.... unless you have witness this happening yourself, I wouldn't file an elder abuse report. Curious as to what being stolen in the alleged thefts?

I hope you have first hand information, and not second hand from your mother. Mom may not be a reliable source of information
