Yes. You are honoring and carrying forward your parents wishes. So that this is clear I as a former RN have things written out clearly in my advanced directive. Three of those things are no intubation even briefly, no dialysis even briefly, no artificially administered nutrition by tube or TPN IV. When family questions this tell them that you are carrying out the wishes of your parent and that you are open to explaining it to them ONCE, but not open to discussion. Period and end of statement. Quite honestly it doesn't matter WHAT their reasoning is. The only thing that matters is your parents wishes as discussed with YOU their appointed MPOA.
