I'm trying to untangle the details of a state-to-state move for a senior who is on Medicare and Medicaid. It's so complicated! Not just the actual physical move, but figuring out how insurance is impacted. Is there a certain type of geriatric care manager who specializes in this sort of thing? I think I need help figuring it all out.

Yes, you are correct. This is not a DIY project.

I would go to www.nelf.org and find a certified elder law attorney in the state you want to move her to.

Medicaid is a federal program that is ran by each state, it DOES NOT transfer from state to state. So please, get this sorted out before you remove her from the current facility.

I think a GCM based in the new location (or an eldercare attorney well versed in Medicaid) might be what you are seeking.
