Just added bed baths to the caregiver routine, the first time they chose to use the bathing foam and terry wash cloths and towels while she was on the commode.
Has anyone heard of this variation before?

Find Care & Housing
I see no problem with this.
Both are in a safe position.
The floor is easily cleaned and dried.
Towels, water, soap all within easy reach.
Also much easier to clean the person after toileting as part of the sponge bath routine.

Whichever works best for the caregiver and the client especially if client is resistant to bathing. I had one client who was resistant to bathing. I would bathe the bottom and legs. Before bed, we would wash the top. Sometimes she would agree to being showered. Unfortunately, there's this thing called the patient bill of rights. They have the right to refuse care.

Giving a sponge bath on the commode is MUCH easier than giving a sponge bath while someone is lying in a bed. I'm just saying.
Just be grateful that your loved one is getting bathed.
