My mother is 89 and had a stroke one month ago which affected her right side from muscles in throat, right trunk, right arm (she's forgotten her right hand) and right leg especially her foot. Also has terminal lung cancer.
My mom is bedridden with stage 7 Alzheimer's. We have a hospital bed, alternating pressure mattress pad, I use a stainless steel shelf on wheels for supplies while changing her (she is double incontinent). Some other things we use are a wipe warmer which made such a difference for mom's comfort during changing. We use a honey bear therapy bottle...it has a straw...she can suck but when she forgets, I can gently squeeze and water goes up the straw. We have a transport wheelchair with larger rear wheels... So much better than the ones with 4 small wheels. We have a tub for washing hair in bed and a bag for water with sprayer. I have about 6 washable bed pads and extra pillows for positioning. That's all I can think of ;-)

So, he developed pressure sores (aka bed sores) on his buttocks.
I tried so many creams that have all be highly recommended - but the one that truly works is Colloidal Silver Gel - the one I have is SilverMiracles and $11.99 @Amazon.
However, everyone is different so I will also tell you the creams that I found recommended by ALS patients (wheelchair bound): Peri-Guard, Selan Silver, Anti Monkey Butt (I bought the baby because gentler), Aloe Vesta 3 Protect Protective Ointment, and Boudreaux Butt Paste. All are great Barrier Creams and I just pick one and use it over the Colloidal Silver Gel.
I went to Vitality Medical.com and found incontinence pads and all the above with the possible exception of Boudreaux - cheaper than anywhere else.
