I got caught using on the forum again and my daughter would like to ask a question. Most of you know my daughter by now as I write about her a lot. You can check out my profile if you don't know :0)

Soooo- her question ( modified a wee bit for the site):

What are your elders' favorite foods?

Oh sheesh, BoniChak!!-I didn't even think of Sophie's Choice!!-- what a horribly sad movie!!!!!!

That is such a sweet offer!!! And so cool that you are a chef! We just have to stay away from gluten and she has to watch her sugar intake. And she needs lots of fiber. She is a pretty good eater-not too picky, actually. We do not eat a lot of mammal . We are fish and chicken and turkey eaters. The only things I cannot get that girl to eat are raw veggies. Even if they are shaped like stars or hearts or friggin' Sponge Bob she won't eat them. Except lettuce and spinach in her salad. For breakfast she has been eating egg white veggie (cooked) omelets-with just a tiny sprinkle of cheese. We have to watch her cheese. She loves cheese.
If you have any ideas just post them on my wall!!! That would be so awesome!

When I first read the title of the post, I thought you had an impossible, sad question....like sophie's choice. What a pleasure the real topic was. Yea Mom's a hoot, my family is dysfunctional and there is DEFINITELY a book in me. Hopefully it will be humorous as well as helpful and cathartic. Sad to have to say....I am waiting until I have time. I AM keeping lots of notes in the meantime.
I used to be a chef (in my former life) and if you tell me Sophies restrictions, likes, and dislike....I could come up with a few fun Kid easy recipes for her.:)

Hi BonChak! You Mom sounds like she has some really good one liners! Do you write them down? You should -in a memory book or something. Wouldn't that be a great coffee table book! With a cute photo of her in a different hat for each one liner. A coffee book for family and friends-if nothing eles.

Poor Sophie has been on an ultra healthy diet. She has to eat healthy anyways but now it is brown rice, roasted veggies and chicken breast. I think she is day dreaming about eating her favorite foods. She is doing pretty well. I am a horrible Mother because when she went to bed I made my husband run out and get malted milk balls and I hid in my room and ate them!!!
I told Sophie if she ate well all week when Nana comes(next week I am getting my Mom and bringing her here for the week) she could have a treat with her--OHHHH-I wonder if that is why she was asking this question?? She loves to plan what she is going to eat. For her birthday she is hitting all the fast food joints ( or so she says) she is usually gluten free for behavior but we let her cheat every once in awhile. She has her birthdays, holidays and Nana days pretty planned out! :0)

That was a fun post! I ALWAYS love talking about food! I made something wicked for myself for dinner tonight. Mom said...."what is that again?" I answered "Cheese fries with bacon and sour cream"..........She said" I just needed to know in case the paramedics ask." We laughed our butts off. Love those CLEAR, funny moments.

@ Jinx --too cute about your husband pouting! My husband loves to eat peanut butter by the spoon as well-and he doesn't drink anything with it --I don't know how he does it!

@Sharynmarie- your Mom's favorite foods sound just like Sophie's!! Hee hee

@BoniChak- haha-I am picturing your Mom( won't her Mohawk -sorry but that is what I see ;0) licking the plate clean!

You guys seriously rock!! Your are all so sweet to answer Sophie. She is in bed now but I will show her all her answers tomorrow --she will be so excited!
When she said she wanted to ask a question I said no and then thought about it and said "what question?" and she said "what is their favorite food" and I thought , heck, that is not a bad topic to talk about--what our elders are eating, what they like and , like you, BoniChak, if there are any eating problems going on. (except when it comes to Napoleon Pastry that is ;0) so I let her go for it. I appreciate the leeway you guys give me with her! She reallly does get a kick out of this.

Hi Sophie! My Mom does not really like food anymore. I make her a milkshake every day and put protein powder in it so she stays strong.
We went to a restaurant last week and I ordered a fancy dessert. After just a taste, I got up to go to the ladies room. I came back to find her gobbling the last bite of it! Her face was practically in the plate! It was a Napoleon Pastry and it tastes like heaven! I hope you try one someday!

Hi Sophie! it's so nice to hear from you again! What a fun thing to talk about! I take care of my husband's mom, and some of her favorite things to eat are Chinese food and Kentucky Fried Chicken. She also likes anything sweet - especially Ice cream...and cookies....and the Snickers bars with extra caramel. She also likes liver and onions, but I don't. She says it's good but I think liver is yucky.
