You can opt out of the visits. With Hospice the ONLY discipline that you can not opt out of is the Nurse. (and doctor if they need to visit) I had some nice chats with the social worker. But there was not much I needed from her. If you don't need to talk to the social worker at this point just tell them that you would like to skip next month or that you will call if you need to talk. They will not be hurt and if they are busy it is possible that there are families that need more attention and if you don't need them they can devote more time to another.
You can opt out of their visits. They come as often as you want. My MIL opted out of the social worker visits, I think the SW came once in the beginning.
I've felt the social worker for mthr's hospice was great to have around as a sympathetic ear. I would not opt out of visits simply because each patient's journey is different and the social worker may see an issue long before I do. Ours comes and chats with us about anything. Yes, it can be hard to get used to them visiting, but it's their job and they are good at listening. Mine has made sure we are aware of programs that mthr could qualify for and educational camps for my kids (about dying). That's something I had no idea about. I also did not know that our hospice had volunteer hair dressers who can give mthr a trim, and our social worker connected us. :)
