Is Social Security supposed to increase my father's check when in assisted living?

He is in a assisted living in the Bronx and his checks are not covering the rent.

Sorry, but Social Security will not increase to meet someone's needs. If he is on disability, then there may be some subsidy, but regular Social Security is based on past earnings.

he does recieve disability and can you tell me what you mean by subsidy
