She described the rest of the furniture in her room, so now I’m wondering. Why would she miss seeing her couch?

I phoned, the couch was still there. :)

Thank you.   I really did not think a bunch of overworked aids or old geezers took the couch

Listen, I fact check EVERYTHING my mother says!! She lives in Memory Care too. Sometimes she's spot on with what she says while other times she's making up stories.

If the couch really IS gone, any number of things could have transpired. She could have soiled the couch with feces.........and it was taken out to be cleaned. Who knows? No sense in wondering, just call over there and find out!

The other day, I got an email from the nurse at mom's place. She asked me if we've 'lost family members to COVID-19' because my mother was telling everyone that people were dying from it!! She was making up stories that time, and I told the nurse so. When I asked mom about it later on, she said she did NOT say anyone had died.........just that they had 'passed away.' Sigh. Isn't dementia FUN? :(

Best of luck!

I know things can go missing, but I doubt a couch did.  I doubt they even have the staff to move furniture.  I am guessing she remembers a couch form 20 years ago.  Try tomorrow, then if still missing, I would gently ask staff.

I agree with Beatty. If she says something again, ask her where she is sitting.

Unless the AL owns the furniture, they have no right to remove it. I would chalk it up to the desease. Also, as the desease progresses, wrong words maybe used to discribe things. Or, she is looking for that couch she had 20yrs ago.

Hmm. Was she sitting on it when she described everything else? I'd call later in the day, or next day & wait to see if she mentions it again.

LOL!!!! “Was she sitting on it when she described everything else” had to laugh at that!!! Great question, I bet she was sitting in on it and that’s why she didn’t see it when she looked around......kind of like looking for your glasses when they are on top of your head!
