Mother, 90 years old, dementia patient, is constantly moving her feet when she is in bed. I ask her if she is in pain but she can’t determine what is pain. I can’t figure out if it’s her legs or stomach since she, also, touches her stomach like something is bothering her. In this pandemic, don’t want to risk her taking her to the doctor. Have been giving Tylenol for pain, anti acid for stomach indigestion. But still moves constantly like something is bothering. Any suggestions, experience, actions to take?

It depends on what kind of dementia your mother has. If she has Lewy Body or Vascular dementia, moving her feet or legs constantly is part of the progression of these types. There are medications that can help with those symptoms. Is she at home with you or in a facility? If she's in long-term care then they can have the doctor see her. If not, speak to her doctor via video chat or phone and tell them what is happening. They may prescribe to her as well.
