Fay, I'm guessing that you don't think mom belongs in a nursing home. Where do you propose she be cared for? Was your sister caring for her previously? I'm curious where your information about the lying and stealing comes from. Is this information you've gotten from your mom? Another sibling? I think it behooves you to ascertain the facts of this situation before you dive in with accusations.

Your mother has long term care insurance that is paying for her being in the nursing home? The way those usually works is you pay the nursing home first and then send a copy of the nursing home bill to the long term care insurance company which they respond to by sending the resident a check that goes into their account. Is this what is going on?

What has your sister told you concerning why your mother was placed in the nursing home?

I see from your profile that you live in Alaska. Where is your mother?

How long has she been in the nursing home so far?

Who are you learning your information from? Are you hearing all of this directly from your sister or from what another sibling who is telling you this?

Your sister would not have been able to just put your mom in a nursing home without a doctor's order. Has your sister given you any explanation as to why your mother is in the nursing home? What are all these medical decisions that your sister has made?

What is your relationship with your sister like?

How far away do you live from your sister and your mother?

What are your mother's health problems and how old is she?

Do you know which nursing home your mother is in and where it is?

Have you seen your mother since finding out that she is in the nursing home?

I think before you going into an attack mode with your sister that you need to find out the whole story about what is going on with your mother.
