Tamma, as others have said, it would help to know more about your mom. If you think she might be nearing the end of her life, I highly recommend contacting a Hospice Care organization in your area. They can evaluate Mom regarding her life expectancy and if she is in her final stage they can help ensure she is comfortable and also provide information and comfort for you.

Sleeping a lot and being confused can be signs death is near, but they can also occur under other circumstances. So it is hard for us to guess. If you want to, tell us how old your mother is, what her infirmities are, how long she has been sleeping a lot, what her doctors say, etc.

She will stop eating or drinking. Breathing is irregular. Her BP will slowly fall, but heart rate will increase. O2 saturation drops. I do hope you have a Hospice Nurse to call.

I'm not a doctor, but from my experience with my mother it does not sound like she is in her final hours. Has her doctor seen her lately? Have you considered looking into hospice care for your mom?

It would help to know what is going on now.

My mother stopped talking, stopped eating, slept all of the time, then had one final stroke and died.
