Mother has Medicare/Medicaid and is eligible for long term care if needed. My sister and I are taking care of her in our own home, and state provides only 15 hrs of care a week. Will this present a problem taking care of her the rest of the time the state doesn't and being compensated as caregivers?

Who would compensate you for the other hours? Your mother? Are you thinking of a caregiving agreement? Why not just have a separate agreement for each of you? Does your mother come to your homes for 6 months, or do you go to hers? If she is coming to yours, does she pay you anything for room and board?
