Hi guys, this is an old question. Feel free to vent, but I don't think Junior is listening.

It still boggles my mind that they know she has a special needs child and expect this. When we first had Mom, I continued to watch Gson a couple of days a week when DH was home. That way if Mom needed me, DH could take over. A friend felt I should give up my gson altogether and concentrate on Mom since at 87 she may not be with us much longer. I said no because I didn't want to miss his baby stage. Mom could be with us another 10 yrs. He would be in HS. I wanted to enjoy him. He now is in fulltime daycare but I feel we have a bond since I had him from 2 to 24 months. I only have two grandchildren and won't have anymore. I want to enjoy them. Mom enjoyed hers.

Get an estimate on home care for the time you need off and send them copies.

I agree with partsmom; also see if there is a church that has a senior ministry that might be able to give you some relief. Why aren't your siblings helping you?
