I live in caregive they have been paying this amount for 30 yrs.Their policy only pays for 100 a day after 20 days. I think their policy should have been updated yrs back. I see it as a waste of money. Anybody see different? Mom dialysis dad dementia alz want to live at home .the policy is vastly outdated and a big drain. Mom has been doing dialysis for 3yrs. Shes 93 yrs. Dad dementia. Mod to severe he sits in chair reading newspaper all day he s 94yrs old. I have been living with them for 3yrs. Just now have convinced them I need help.

Is this long term care insurance? Or a policy that gives you "extra income" if you are in the hospital long term? You need to read the policy. If it is a policy that only applies to hospitalizations in acute facilities, then no, they should keep it, in my opinion. No one is kept in an acute facility for 20 days! But read the policy carefully and perhaps ask a lawyer for advice.

So, the policy will pay $100 per day after they have paid for care for 20 days? EACH? That's $6000 per month, yes? Enough for assisted living?

If the policy will pay for in home care ordered by an MD, then USE it to pay for extra help. Read it carefully.
