It's an online bank. I sent email asking if there was beneficiary. Never got response. The customer service rep said the check is addressed to me. He can't tell me if there was a beneficiary or who if there was. Said since I. Initiated the process the check is in my name. Didn't tell the court about this money. Can I just keep half and give half to brother. Going to have hospital and rehab bills soon.

Yes. Ill have to look at it. But she had me as beneficiary for one of. her bank accounts. The lawyer said if there is a beneficiary the money goes directly to that person. The money doesn't go to the estate bank account. But Im having trouble getting an answer from this bank. Was there a benificiary. for this account or not?
I guess I have to e m ail them again and hope I get an answer this time..

Was the account POD, to you? That would mean that you would receive the monies from it, but I'm not sure if tgat means that you don't have to pay her outstanding bills from that money. I would think that the estate lawyer would be able to tell you how to handle the situation.

The bank has all they need. A check is being sent to me payable to me. I have not been able to talk to the people processing the account. The customer service people wont tell me anything. Even though the bank has all the legal papers they need. In order to talk to me. They won't. So I don't know if there was a POD or beneficiary attached to this account. They wouldn't even say "yes o r no" to my question. I s there a beneficiary for this account. Banks are frustrating sometimes.
