My grandfather has 2 appts not back to back at the same place, but will also have to wait up to an hour for the new prescription to be filled after. So, we will be gone almost 4 hours and my problem is my wild loud ADHD/ODD son will be with us because I have no other care for him. He gets bored and acts up after 10 minutes. My dad and I been begging my grandpa to pay someone else to take him for over two weeks. Well, this morning I complained to my grandpa again how bad its going to be I wish he would ask the old care taker or neighbor. He said fine he will ask if I want. yeah!!!!!

Not yeah!!! My dad called him to confirm he was getting that ride and he said " No, it will be fine with my grandson" WHAT!!!! 99% of the time my son is loud and nasty mouth, jumping up and down, causing a scene. Yes, I discipline my son but when its not necessary to take him out until he gets more types of therapy/meds... why should everyone go through it? And yes my grandfather has been out several times with him and every last time time gets upset at him and cant stand it. He says he will just walk out and skip his appts then. Its hard enough to handle my son alone but to have my disabled grandpa too? Yikes!!

Well, here's my horrible idea, reason for question. Should I just tell him I flat out refuse to take him to the appt which will cause a major war? Do I go and suffer knowing whats going to happen so when it does we can still fight about how bad it was and how I told him so and how Im going to be upset with him because I cant hack the extra stress? When I work he has no choice but to have others take him ( yes Im looking into the people you all suggested, waiting on calls back!!!) But UNTIL I work, he still refuses anyone else anyways. Its always an argument.

Take him to his appointment, drop him in the doctor's office and ask the nurse to call you on your cell phone when he's ready to be picked up.

Take your son to lunch, do some bonding time, go window shopping, take him to a video game parlor, whatever, and if you're not IMMEDIATELY ready to pick up your dad, tell the nurse so when she calls. "I'll be there for him in 30 minutes."

Great idea!!! Problem is its in two different areas of the hospital ( thats what I meant by same place- the hospital but two different floors-just woke up Im sorry plus is thundering here pretty good, startled me to not giving a little more detail lol)

But you gave me a great idea, I will call them shortly and ask if they have someone that can care for him whiles he there!! I never thought of that!!! Im sure there is someone there that can help right?

Thank you :)

I'd say that's why the hospital has a volunteer program. Hope it all works out. If they DON'T have someone who can take him from one part of the hospital to another, then it may be a further inconvenience to you to come back and do it yourself. And then go back about your business with your son. Let dad play the waiting game. It's hard on kids.

But I'm betting they'll be able to help you.
