My father passed away 5/19. His check was deposited 5/24. They took it back in the beginning of July. I filed a claim to receive that last check. They denied my claim. Should I appeal?

Are you talking about Social Security?

The Social Security Administration makes their monthly payments one month behind. For example, the benefit for the month of May is received the end of May. If any person passes away before the end of the month, they are not eligible for that month's social security check.

I am surprised that Social Security waited until July or did you mean June? Usually SS will take back that check within days.
