Any recommendations for short audio books or stories for seniors?

Mom has been more awake lately and it breaks my heart to see her sitting staring off into space. I play music for her but wondered if she might enjoy listening to something else (TV is out because she can't see to follow along). All I can come up with that doesn't involve sex, violence and vampires are the Chicken Soup books. Anybody have other ideas??

Poetry. Children's books on tape, like the wind in the willows ,, fairy tales, peter pan. The bible, Dickens.
