My mom was exactly like this - no physical problems, could bathe, dress, eat, etc. with no assistance but wandered away several times. Her dementia was in the moderate stage but she could find her way around with only some reminders. The facility kept saying reminding me when asked why there weren't cameras, buzzers, someone at the front door that they don't do that in assisted living. We had to move her last Nov. to a secure facility and I must say she seems to be content there. there does need to be some sort of in between type of care. My sister and I talk about this all the time. There is a need and someone could make quite a good living by designing such a place.
