Long dreadful story short. I have moved my mom home with me, she is no longer on Medicaid now since she lives in the community. Yesterday I signed her up with a supplement. I am stressed out, I found a bedbug in my home, taking that whole route again of what you have to do to get rid of those things, I can’t sleep, and have been searching all week for a better place for my mom to call home, with no luck. Monday will be calling alternatives for the older adult. Checked out two private pay assisted-living’s with memory care available for later but too expensive... The only Medicaid available facility was the one I just pulled her out of, all the others are at least an hour away or more.
I know I’m going to be scolded here for bringing my mom into my home. I have read so much here time and time again month after month on how that is not the thing to do but I was desperate. My mom was not being properly treated at her AL (long story) and I honestly thought she was bug free before I brought her here. I took all precautions but I ended up in a mess. Actually I had her signed up to move into NH in our town as soon as she left AL. I was told by a close friend how nice it was and I was so desperate I didn’t even tour it which was so dumb!! The place has change in the last several years I guess. I had to get her out of this nasty AL asap. The afternoon before she would move into NH, I dropped by and took a tour. I know there are very nice ones but this one was absolutely not nor a place that mom is ready for or suits her needs at this current time. So, here I am, she’s becoming incontinent, I’m wondering if it’s from the newly prescribed Aricept and sits around kind of zoned out all the time. Found her a new doctor to start all over again. I have been reaching out all over town asking for help, made several calls to alternatives for the older adult and they have yet to call me back.
At her AL, mom had a pension and Social Security check that paid her way there which was all good and Medicare and Medicaid paid as well. The whole process is mine boggling to me, signing her up for a supplement yesterday was awful I can’t hold myself together and talk like I have any sense at all.
