Hello, How can I be certain that I no longer carry scabies lice? I am 55yo carer for a 96yo Mum who was diagnosed and treated for scabies lice. At same time Mama took permethrin treatment, I also took permethrin treatment despite having no symptoms. How can I be certain I no longer carry scabies lice ? I am deeply worried about reinfecting Mum. Mum should not undergo more torture. What shall I do ? Thank you and God bless you all.

They're mites, not lice. If that makes you feel any better at all?

You did the correct thing in treating yourself at the same time as your mother, but this was an abundance of caution: I've had something similar myself (mange, hilariously, although I certainly didn't think so at the time, caught by me and all of the children from our dog and diagnosed by her vet) and I promise you that if those little b*sta*ds had been burrowing in your skin you'd have known all about it.

But I sympathise with your feeling anxious. If you're still worried, ask your GP who may perhaps recommend some kind of skin scraping for analysis (I don't know this, I'm guessing) and at least should be able to reassure you.

It's horrible, poor mother and poor you. Socially distant non-infective hugs to you!

I suppose that you could ask your doctor the effectiveness of the treatment. If you no longer have symptoms you are most likely in the clear.
