Sure why not.... if you can comfortably do yoga, go for it. I wouldn't be surprised if one could find people in their 80's and 90's still doing yoga.

Yes, it is safe. The senior center near me has weekly yoga classes. The only stipulation is that one has to be able to get up after doing the mat exercises. So the people who won't be able to get up only do the standing or sitting exercises. It probably wouldn't hurt to do the mat exercises, but we'd have to call 911 to get them up!

BTW, there are different levels of yoga. Some are intense, so not good for older people who are beginners. Then there is gentle yoga. It is recommended for older people. The only problem I could see with yoga for an older person would be if they have balance issues. They may need to keep a chair for support for some of the movements.
