Find Care & Housing
Do you mean Medicaid? Medicare is a health insurance.

With Medicaid you have to spend down all assets. There is an asset amt you are allowed, my State 2k, and a monthly income amount, my State a little over $2900. If there is a Community Spouse there is a little more involved and that person will need an Elder Lawyer to split the marital assets.

Each State has their own criteria. Best thing for you to do is call your County Social Services office and make an appt with a Medicaid caseworker.

Medicare is medical insurance and not custodial care. It covers some rehab time but after 22 days, the patient begins to incur costs of care, scaled on medical need up to 100 days. If the person pays down their assetts, then an application for Medicaid can be filed.
