I am POA financially and medically of my mother. I want to know what my rights are. I work from home so I can be with my mother. I work long hours so I hired someone to help me as my sisters don't help. My sister had my mother living with her and through the state she is legally blind. When my mother was with her she fell and broke her hip. The dr said it wouldn't be a good idea to give her surgery due to her age. So now she lives with me. I ask my sisters to come help and most of the time it's no call no show. That's y I hired someone. Now my sisters are being rude to caregiver and are so worried how the caregiver is being paid. What are my rights can I put a restraining order on them or kick them out when they are being rude since this is my home. Please help thanks ahead of time.

The paperwork for your power of attorney should outline your duties and rights. Talk to the attorney who created the documents if you need additional legal help. My dad was rude to my mom's caregivers after she had a stroke and also lamented about the money being paid to the caregiver. I kept reminding him they were helping my mom.

As medical and financial POA for your mother, you have the responsibility of spending her funds in her best interests and for her care. You also have the authority to do that. Your sisters have no say in that.

I don't know if restraining orders are issued for rudeness. But you certainly have the right to ask someone to leave your home. Is there somewhere else your sisters could visit with Mom? A patio? Porch? Sun room? Somewhere out of the mainstream of the house?

I trust you have explained your sisters' rudeness to the caregiver and told her they don't represent your views and she should simply disregard them. Can she go to another part of the house when sisters visit, or does Mother need her near?

my older sister says things to my mom and upsets her. My mom is not well mentally and goes downhill after she talks to her. I am trying to keep peace and allow her in, but I have now given her a warning that if she continues to upset mom and say hurtful things to her, she is no longer allowed in my home. I have POA and it is my home. My sister said she will contact an attorney and has a right to enter my home. If I say to her she cannot enter my home, can she still?

No, she has no rights to enter your house unless/until a judge grants her that right. To do that, she'd have to sue you. Start keeping notes.

Per my attorney, I decide who enters my home, and when and for how long.
