esp with chronic uti's. Is there a substance that could be sprayed/applied to this area, that could remove feces in one or 2 swipes? If so, where can it be purchased, or is it something natural I can make myself that would do the same? Thanks
Have you tried baby wipes or the flushable wipes made specifically for use in the bathroom? Those are pretty effective. I'm sure you know this, but just make sure you always wipe from front to back, to avoid dragging waste into areas where it shouldn't be.
We cleaned up a massive diarrhea blowout on a day trip with my mother using only baby wipes - not saying it was at all easy, but using just toilet paper or the restroom paper towels would have been a nightmare. (Thanks a lot to the NH staff who gave her a dose of laxative that morning, knowing we were taking her out!)
There are no rinse peri cleansers out there, try looking on amazon or just do a google search for "peri wash". Places that sell incontinence supplies usually stock some as well. (Although doing the job with just one or two wipes seems wishful thinking)
Senset Foam was recommended by the stroke rehab unit, and I found it worked well. It's a mousse that you spray on to a soft dry wipe. Have you looked through all the continence care product websites? - they may well have samples you can try.
Be careful about the different ingredients in feminine fresh wipes or products. They can cause a furuncle in sensitive persons. Unscented baby wipes, very very diluted witch hazel with water (try it on self first), water with mineral oil, or even a half teaspoon of vinegar in a 1/2 gallon of water will make a cleansing solution. Or there are essential oils that clean, but I don't have the dilution or recipe. Put it in a peri-rinse bottle, the kind that squirts up when you turn it upside down.
I'd be wary about experimenting with essential oils unless you are very careful, undiluted oils are strong enough to burn sensitive areas, and some can cause allergic reactions. The whole point of the commercial washes is that they are designed to be gentle, hypoallergenic, and ph balanced.
I get unscented sensitive skin baby wipes by the box fulls from Walmart. I also have used a peri-wash that I fill up with warm water on times that it's dried on and needs to be softened. My grandma doesn't prefer this method though and complains that I'm squirting her with water down there. Wipes do wonderful. I just dispose of them in the diaper genie that I use to dispose of her underpants in. Flushable wipes do ok too but I have yet to find one that is gentle enough not to cause her discomfort. Plus eventually they do clog the toilet which frustrates me and it always seemed to be in the middle of the night and honestly who wants to spend 2 am unclogging a toilet?
