If an elder is in need of long term care and the family finds that they recently chose to drop insurance they had paid for for YEARS, is there any recourse for them?

The policy was dropped in late 2019 and the person entered care in February 2020. They are in memory care and have not yet been completely diagnosed.

In general, at atleast in Canada, you can reinstate an insurance policy if you catch up all the premiums, within a specified period of time.

Most policies have a waiting period too.
