How does one refer a neighbor who obviously requires professional intervention?

Their lack of hygiene is deleterious to themselves and us. He has rights to his privacy. I am not suggesting that he become homeless. His quality of life as a humen being is respected, however when does he feel the need to respect others ?

If this is a situation that is dangerous for your neighbor, you can file a "report of need" with your Area Agency on Aging. You may do so anonymously.

Ronnie's right; extend a helping hand; maybe this person is in desperate need and you can help. I'm wondering also if you're referring to personal hygiene or yard hygiene. As written, not enough information has been provided to respond helpfully or accurately, especially the basis for your opinion that this person needs "professional" intervention.

However, given that 5 days have gone by and we've not heard from you, I rather doubt that any of our queries will be answered.

Take your neighbour a gift of food, cake, etc, and engage him/her and see what comes of that.

Always better to play the good neighbour than the neighbourhood secret informer.

Neglect of self is most often a sign of profound depression.

Tim to love thy neighbour?

I am going to agree with GA on this. I would need more information about this neighbor other than a personal opinion about how someone's outer appearance requires professional intervention. Can you be more specific about this neighbor. Such as behavior, safety issues, possible mental issues, neglect or abuse.

Are you speaking of personal hygiene, house or yard hygiene?

How would homeless apply?

More detail really is needed about this situation.
