She has no children - I have helped her with her finances, taxes, etc for years. She's now in a nursing home and will not be returning to her home, so it's time to sell it. But it will take many hours to clean it out, prepare for an estate sale, etc.

Find Care & Housing
Thanks - I do have the POA, and the house is loaded with 40 years accumulation of important and not-so-important papers, so I feel I need to go through that. The house will probably be knocked down so I don't feel I need to clean as much as get personal papers and information stored away, thrown away or shredded. And I'll use an agent to sell the house. I work full time, and I'll have to take unpaid to do this (could take several days) so I was wondering if anyone had ever paid someone to do this type of cleanup.

Talk to a professional who does this for a living. I believe most charge a percentage of the proceeds from the estate sale. There are cleaning companies that will get the house ready. We did this with my Aunt's house and it worked just fine for us. Friend might have nieces and nephews who would be interested in some keepsakes or pictures. .

Do you have POA to move forward with the sale or is your friend able to handle that on her own? I am sure others have more info. Good luck.
